Yumi Nakamaru Hunt is a wallpaper hanger with many talents.
Her attention to detail, passion and expertise in wallpaper hanging complements her trained eye in art and textile design.
Originally from a small town called Chigasake in Japan, Yumi moved to the states in 1999 and lived in Philadelphia where she studied art and fashion at the Art institute of Philadelphia. After receiving her associate degree, she found her way to New York City to study textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. There she acquired skills of painting, screen printing, weaving and textile pattern making.
After Working at DKNY in New York she lived and worked in Tokyo for 5 years where she worked at a fashion design studio where she created textile prints, patterns and produced garments in US, Japan, India, Thailand and Africa.
Yumi returned to New York in 2009, where she apprenticed under Sarah Merenda, the owner and operator of Merenda Wallpaper. She worked along side Sarah Merenda where she trained and installed materials mostly at residential places from grasscloth, hemp, silk, english paper, gold leaf, glass beaded, wall murals, and a wide variety of gallery installations all over NYC.
Yumi now resides in Bucks county Pennsylvania, where she runs her business East End Wallcovering. She continues to contribute her skills and knowledge of excellent wallpaper installations to her community.
